The exact model comes first
A family name is not enough. We match the full model code, finish, market and relevant revision before using a specification or photograph. Retailer condition, included parts and seller eligibility are separate checks.
Capacity is separated from usable container fit. Cabinet dimensions are separated from ventilation and door-opening space. Published annual energy is separated from measured consumption. Those distinctions often change the buying decision.
How owner feedback is used
Owner reports can highlight awkward access, frost maintenance or other details that a specification table does not explain. We check model labels and context because retailer review feeds can combine variants.
Selected reports remain attributed and linked through the source register. A single failure or positive account does not establish a typical failure rate, an average result or a controlled comparison. Another owner’s experience is not described as Annette’s firsthand testing.
Research and firsthand testing
The current guides are research-led editorial comparisons. CompactChill has not documented its own controlled cooling, noise or usable-capacity measurements for the reviewed models. Personal recommendation language describes judgment, not a claim of physical use.
Future genuine testing should record the exact unit, conditions, instruments, method, observations and photographs. Cooling consistency, sound, usable storage and ownership observations should identify their limitations. Website interaction checks are a separate activity and do not count as appliance testing.
What the finder and calculator can establish
The finder uses storage type, documented locks and known installation measurements. With space inputs, it excludes models whose fit data are incomplete. It does not guarantee cooling, sound, electrical suitability or door clearance.
The running-cost calculator multiplies annual kWh by a user-entered tariff. It estimates electricity cost and makes the example assumptions visible. It does not predict a guaranteed bill or include purchase and maintenance costs.
Recommendations without invented scores
The shortlist uses buyer roles rather than a fabricated numerical rating. Each choice should identify who it suits, its limitations and a meaningful alternative. No stars, aggregate ratings or physical-test scores are invented.
The source register contains the product documents and owner-report context. If evidence is missing or conflicting, that uncertainty stays part of the decision.
